Recently I have been having some difficulty coming up with a logo that will represent my portfolio, my website and the brand I want to create. Here are some rough designs I've come up with.
This last one was inspired from the West African Adrinka symbol titled EPA. It represents slavery and justice.
This is the symbol.
I feel I need more work on my logo, so if I come up with more design concepts update. Until then, take care.

Drawing Idea
For my portfolio, I want to create my own memes out of the drawings I make. In these memes, there would be a quote that connects to the picture. Here's one idea i've been working on.
It's basically a concept for a snail car. I want to make a bunch of these cars stuck in traffic on a street, an then have a guy walking on the side walk who's caught in the rain and looks all sad. The quote would be "What's worse, a bad day or a slow day?". The snail car represents having a slow day. Although being shielded by the rain, nothing interesting is happening. While the man walking on the side walk is being drenched by rain, is having a bad day.
I'll have more meme ideas coming soon.

Like the last post, and the post before that, here is another jean concept. I basically took the two colours concept, and made each leg of the jean a different colour.
I decided to roll up one side higher then the other because I thought it looked cool. It could be a possible way to wear it other then having them not rolled up. More coming soon.

Here is another outfit design. I wanted to make something that resembled a bathrobe, but would be made of a warm material that could worn during the summer. I came up with this.
The material that I would use if were to make it would be a material similar to the material used to make bed sheets. It has to be thin enough so the person wearing it would not get hot. Since a lot of people like to wear jackets that go past their hips, it would be a great to wear, especially when it gets a little chilly but not so chilly that you need a jacket. More coming soon.

This is yet again, another jean concept. I tried using the concept again of two colours of jeans, and putting them in different places. I sort of got the idea from leggins which have a design to them, rather then just a solid colour. Since men don't wear leggings, I had to apply them to pants men would wear. So I came up with this.
I basically took one colour and put it on the side and in the middle of the jeans. The great thing about this concept is I can make several designs with the same concept. All I have to do is arrange the second colour in a different way. Here are some other concepts I came up with using this concept.

Another great thing about all these jean designs is that they don't necessarily need to be made with one jeans. They can me made with various different types of pants, only adding to the possibilites of designs I can make. I can apply the designs to sweat pants, regular pants, anything. More coming soon.

For this design, I tried coming up with something that could be worn during warmer weather. Most of my designs dealt with sweaters, so I wanted to come up with a t-shirt design. It was difficult at first because most t-shirt designs are quite simple, often only using a single solid colour and a design of some sort. Eventually I came across this new concept by looking at a piece of women's clothing.
Most men would look ridiculous and stupid if they were to pull this style off, But I got a little creative. I noticed that technically, the exposed skin adds to the design, as it adds another colour (that being the skin colour) along with the the shirt itself. So what if I simply put a shirt underneath another shirt, but cut off the shirt on top half way. And so, this is what I came up with.
I basically took a long sleeve white shirt, and took a blue and white stripped shirt, and cut it in half and put it on top. Therefore making this design. The good thing about this design is, I can make this either be a regular shirt, or a warm sweater. More coming soon.

This rough design is another concept for jeans. After I had the first idea for the jeans, I tried to come up with other ideas. Basically, I could come up with a whole new concept, simply by taking any two shades or colours of jeans and arranging them in a particular way. I got this idea from looking at pajama pants.
I noticed how pajama pants have certain patterns. So I took a concept similar to this and created this.
By taking two colours, I made them go in a horizontal pattern. Though using this concept proved difficult, because stripes on stripes don't match. So the top that is added with these jeans must be solid. More coming soon.

This idea I got inspired from a picture of one of my favorite Punk singers, Johnny Rotten. I wanted to take a cardigan, and add more colours to it. Most of the time, cardigans only have one solid colour, but I thought they would look more appealing with more then one.
I was looking at pictures of Johnny Rotten, the lead singer of the Sex Pistols, and I came across this image.
I noticed that half of the sleeves where of a different material. And so I thought if I took that idea, and applied it to my original cardigan concept, it would work.
And so I came up with this.
I took two colours, one red and one white. I made the red one smaller so it would fit on the inside, making the white colour as the outline. Then, I made the bottom half of the sleeves a different material, similar to the picture above of Johnny Rotten. Though it felt kind of empty, so I thought of putting in another add on. On the back, is of the cardigan is a hump, sort of. I haven't really figured out what it is, but to me it looked cool. I would sort of take a piece of cardboard (or a material that wouldn't be uncomfortable) and stick it in the cardigan, and then stitch it back up. I thought it resembled a futuristic look, like how some robots have something sticking out the back of their armor to protect the back of their head. Though i'm not sure if it would work, originally I had a hood in place of it, but I thought I would be creative.
Anyways, more coming soon.

This rough design is of a concept for a pair of jeans. Basically, you take two different colours of jeans and stitch them together (In the example below I used Black and Grey. To be specific, one shade is slightly above the knee, and the other shade connects to that shade.
I came up with this idea while at school. I was having a cigarette in the courtyard when I saw this guy who standing right the window wearing black jeans. On the other side of the window was a red couch, and when I looked at the reflection of the man in the window, I saw the colour of the couch blended in with the mans black jeans. So the top half of his jeans were black, and the bottom half were red. This sparked an idea in my head, to take two colours of jeans and stitch them together.
I always say, the best ideas are discovered in spontaneously, without even thinking about it. And this is an example. More coming soon.

Creative Outfit #1
In my spare time I like to draw. Sometimes I come up with different costumes I want my characters to wear. Hopefully if I can find some who can sew or produce these articles of clothings, I can create cross promotion between my cartoons and artwork and these clothes. I could sell them online. Here is one rough sketch of a piece of clothing I made.
I simply took a regular sweater and made the neck line more farther down. This allows you to see a t-shirt underneath. This is only one of many designs. Stay tuned for more.

The Doors Hype Audio Visualizer
For an assignment we had to create an animation in Adobe Flash using Action Script 3.0 and the Hype Framework. My idea was to make The Doors logo get larger and smaller depending on the music. I complied a mix of 10 songs from there discography.
Songs Used:
1) Light My Fire
2) Break On Through
3) Five To One
4) Moonlight Drive
5) People Are Strange
6) My Eyes Have Seen You
7) I Looked At You
8) We Could Be So Good Together
9) Back Door Man
10) The End
And here is the final Product:

Hype Framework Wine Label
For an assignment in class, we had to create our own wine label using the Hype Frame work with Flash. I created the label using the Hype Framework, and exported it as a material onto a 3D object of a Wine Bottle in Photoshop. Originally I wanted to make the bottle in 3D Studio Max, but it was too complicated and time consuming.
Here are some screenshots:
And here is the finished product. I had some problems trying to make it visible. Obviously I couldn't put the PSD file up here, and every time I tried making it into another file type it the file wouldn't show the bottle, just a white background. So, using my problem solving skills, I exported it as a 3D layer and placed into a new Photoshop file.

My Favourite Flash Animators
There are a lot of Flash Animators who inspire me. I wait patiently for them to make new cartoons for me to enjoy. Here are my top favorites in no particular order.

Audio Hype Assignment PNG
After many hours struggling, I found out how export an animation in Flash to a PNG image. It was so difficult because I was missing something, the Canvas. So I solved this problem by watching the video over and over again. And I realized I had no Canvas. A few keystrokes later, I finally made it work.

Best File Types To Import To Flash
There are certain file types that work well when importing them to flash, and there are some that don't. I decided to find out which ones would be the most beneficial.
Here we have the four most commonly used image file types of the same image: BMP, JPEG, PSD, PNG.
You can clearly see by the white backgrounds in the BMP and JPEG images that they are not suitable for Flash. Even if there is no background on the image, it always be imported with one. The two best options left are PSD and PNG. They do not come with backgrounds once imported, but how do you now which one to use?
In this image, it can be clearly seen that the PNG file is a lot smaller in size compared to the PSD file. When importing files, it is best to have the smallest possible files size because if they're too big, your program could crash, and that's a waste of time. So when importing assets to Flash, the best file type to use is PNG.

Adobe Illustrator V.s. Adobe Photoshop: The Pen Tool
It always perplexed me as to why Photoshop and Illustrators pen tool's function differently. If you use these programs a lot, you should know how useful the Pen Toll can be. It is not only essential for tracing, but it is very helpful in creating shapes. Once you know how to use it, you can do anything (sort of).
Anyway, I wanted to see which is better and my findings that each one is good for different things. For Photoshop, it is good for tracing things, such as giving your character a black outline. While Illustrator is good for logos. One plus to the illustrator pen tool is its a lot easier to edit, once all the points have been connected, in order to do this in Photoshop, you would have to undo your points or simply start over again (and that can be a pain).
Here are some screenshots, and a random picture I made in Illustrator.

Animation Observation #1 : Pacing
Since I was little, cartoons have always had a place in my heart. Not only because I enjoyed watching them, but I one day wanted to create my own. I have too many favorites to name, but that is not what this blog post is about. Recently I've become curious on why some cartoons are more popular than others. What elements do they have that makes someone keep coming back for more? With that said, I decided to watch cartoons for pleasure, while paying attention to certain details.
What I noticed was depending on the genre of the animation/cartoon, it is paced to establish the mood and the style. For example, a cartoon such as Futurama, is more about comedy and humor, so there is little need for tension, build up or slowing down. Regarding the camera, there are a lot of jump cuts, and no zoom ins or camera panning.
In contrast to that, there is the anime such as Naruto, which use a different pacing method. In this show, everything is a lot slower paced. There is a lot of slow camera panning, and zoom ins. This happens often when exposition is happening. It is especially slow when their is tension or suspense happening. I think the reason this kind of show uses this style of pacing, is because its built more around a storyline. Unlike Futurama which is less about story and more about jokes, Naruto easily gets the feel across that it wants to be taken more seriously when it uses pacing like this.
There you have it, the two types of pacing i've noticed so far. There will be more to come on my observation of cartoons.

Action Script Audio Sync Animation
For this assignment we had to sync an animation with a song using action script. The song I chose was Sir Mix A lot - Baby Got Back. You can imagine how the pictures connect with the song.
Here are some screesnhots of what I did.
